Mercury Gen 2 Control Box
Hello all..
Question regarding the quality of the Gen II Control Box.
I purchased a new box a few years ago and its already worn to a point where nearly useless (it does have the Mercury logo on the handle). I understand there maybe be GEN II's that are manufactured in China (I understand these maybe junk) and some were (or are) manufactured in the US?
I believe I may have the Chinese version as it never worked well out of the box.
My question is where would I purchase a genuine US manufactured Control box and how can one tell the difference of the two?
Thanks..

You won't find one made in the US from mercury. I believe they make all that stuff overseas and in Mexico. A few years is quick for one to wear, maybe you got a dud. I have many boxes in commercial use that I installed 10 years ago and they still work fine, and some 6 to 8 yrs old that are about done. I expect 5 to 10 yrs out of gen 2 binnicle mount boxes.
