We all know what kind of minefield Ebay is, and sometimes I just like to see what parts for outboards are going for, and I came across this. Note how it indicates "20 sold". Link for the auction is here. This seller seems to be selling mostly auto parts, and I seriously doubt 20 of these at that price were sold.

I called a local marina (Certified dealer of many brands of both motors and boats) - they said they had not sold a fuel pump for a 2.5 efi merc since 2004. I was baffled, they're located on Lake St. Clair..........

I've long believed that those 'number sold' indicator is completely bogus. I'm curious as to exactly how that's determined, because this guy definitely did not sell any at that price.

Agreed. Personally, I don't trust the Google 5 star ratings either. I happen to know of one particular business where two of the 5 star ratings were from the General Manager's daughter and a part time employee. Yea, right.
