medical advice
I will not go into any detail as to my last few days but PLEASE if you are 50 years old or more go see a urologist and get a prostate exam. It's not a big deal and it can save your life. I have prostate cancer and of course had no idea. The PSA test, which is a blood test, is not sufficient. You need the digital exam. I know nobody, at least most, do not want someone sticking their finger up your butt but it is the most telling. I have been faithfully going to my doctor for years and have submitted to both the blood work and the digital exam. My last scheduled appointment was fairly close to my last heart attack so we went by my PSA test alone as it has been declining over the years which is good. At 2.9 it is the lowest I have had. We had to pass on the digital as my cardiologist told me, believe it or not, to avoid anal sex. What your butt has to do with a heart attack I have no clue however I had to cancel a scheduled colonoscopy and digital exam for a year. Apparently during that year I acquired the cancer which the digital exam would have exposed. Early discovery is most important in any cancer but the sooner it is discovered the more likely it can be fixed. Most men will deal with some sort of prostate issues. Prostate cancer is probably the most survivable of all cancers but early detection is key. Don't put it off guys in the long run you will be glad you had it checked if for nothing else peace of mind.

My dad and most of my uncles went through prostate cancer. Radiation and the seed were successful with all. Digitally probed annually myself. My last PSA was 0.41ng/mL., up from 0.29.
Good luck.Last edited by electricjohn; 05-19-2022 at 11:27 AM.

I hope you beat the cancer. I will pray for you. Isn't there a mail-in test kit for prostate cancer that is available?
If you saw the sausages my doctor has for fingers you might change your mind about digital prostate exams.-----------------------

Small fingers is important when selecting a urologist. It's one of the reasons I went with a lady doctor.

2.9 is high. I just had my physical yesterday and I get testosterone shots because I don't make any. The range for PSA is 0 to 3.59. I was .38 and I just turned 54. My doc starts to worry if you get above 1. Good luck with your treatment.

My PSA number went from 2.3 to 8.4 so they did a MRI looked good, yesterday I got the Biopsy done, I said I don't need any Xanax ... that was a mistake, I've never had anything done in that part of my body and It was not a good experience, I'll find out next week, my brother who is ten years older than I had Prostate cancer 12 years ago and almost died because I was so far advanced, they had to remove the whole thing and were worried about if it had metastasized.
