Laws vary state by state. In Maryland you need a type 2. Cheap orange for every person on board. I got a ticket once while wearing a type 3, ski vest. Had everything else : No type 2. Law is the law.
Texas doesn't say what type , just coast guard approved. Life line is not CG approved.
A lifeline is much more durable then any recreational ski vest.
Years ago when I was racing offshore I remember the competition jackets came with instructions. I know nobody ever reads instructions anymore.
It said to test jacket to make sure it would roll you over face up. If it didn't repack flotation and so that it will.
I believe a lifeline jacket is the best available. I have 5 onboard. I will carry type 2's for grins along with 2 throw ables.
It really isn't that difficult to follow simple rules.
    Jim

See Comidore .. that wasn't so hard .. was it ..

We got past the individual plastic bags thing ... last week. FUGIPHOTO posted those , I believe. Mine are all in a single plastic case, one little spot of velcro and a carry handle. I can leave them home and just take my four jackets that live in the cubby beside each seat ... if it makes you feel better ...

I have two fire extinguisher's onboard as well ... should I leave one at home ..

    Just sayin ---->

be cooler if we were arguing about the proper set back to use with a new 300r on a super boat or nitra or eliminator.......

instead, we're arguing about where to put your lifejackets

This makes it easy, if the boat is in the water and in motion wear a life vest.

My beer tends to get sucked right out of the top of the can at 90 plus. Major waste of resources.

No one is arguing, the woke Lori Lightfoot crowd might take it personal and need it explained a few different way's .. with parables etc. But I have plenty of patience ..

Does that mean your not allowed to stow the cooler under the rear hatch .. or under the deck ..

Are you allowed to lock the cooler ...

I think the cooler belongs where ever you need the ballast, and rig up a shute system like they have at the bank ... push a button and Whoooshhhhhh , there it is , right in front of you ...

Propper placement of a 300Rotund is laying down in side the hull aprox. 24" to 36" in front of the transom .... hang em off the back and --->
