1987 25hp lower unit nose cone...
Hey all, I called bobs today to inquire about having a nose cone installed on my lower unit. He requested pictures and I sent them. The issue is there may not be room to tap into the impeller housing? He asked for pictures with the water pump housing removed. I just installed a new one and was hesitant to break the new seal but I'm going to go ahead and do it. Has anyone on here have any experience with adding a nose cone on one of these small motors? Any tips or advice?

I would just take 2 plates and block that area...... then put 2 holes on the bottom of said plates just so not to suck air.......just H2O.....Or if ya look at the gear case..... pull off the pump housing and notice the front cavity goes down to the small draine hole on the side..... use that cavity as a water source......more foward to get a better flow that the stock pickups.......Drill the cavity deeper to get lower......put 2 holes on ether side.

Dont think bobs even has aor makes a cone for anything that small like that 35hp omc you get there.
I make my own as in casting an alumn one from a lost foam mold.Just did this one for a omc nitro / 40/50 hp lower.I may be slow but im ahead of you. *hit's only ankle deep but you went in head first.

Nice man! Yes bobs makes them for the small motors but only for certain ones. Like mine, I can't seal off the original hole because I have to access it to remove my shifting linkage to remove my water pump housing. Can you give me more information on how you make yours?

I'm wondering if I could add a cone and run the water hose from the top of the cone to a custom plate I could mount over the existing spot where the water pick up goes. Put two solid plates on with one having threads for the new hose that would come from the nose cone. Idk. Just wondering how I can do this. I want to keep the stock lower because I use reverse.

I've also been asking around for information on how to install a nitrous set up on this motor. If someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. I know the builders that made my hull ran nitrous on their 25's and 40's but there is no longer any way to get in touch with them.

Don't bother with all that. Make block-off plates on the side where the water pickups are now, and then drill a hole for the water transfer right under the water pump area where everyone always does. You can make a bob's cone work but you have to cut it in 2 directions and weld it back together...I wonder how I know lol
