    Xstream,

are the cracks at the gelcoat level?

if so, can I leave it alone till I can address them in the future?

All the old whalers had thick gell Easiest way is to sand well with some 60 or 80 grit, dremel out the worst ones and fill all the cracks with epoxy putty and glass over with epoxy resin using 10 oz cloth

The old whalers look classy with the wood and the bright work however it's. PIA to maintain.JMO. We would replace the wood with Starboard and remove the rails. It was alot more functional, but ours was more of a do it all work boat.I miss my old whalers, I replaced it with a skiff and there's no comparison.

    Let me re-phrase myself ...

The wood is in good enough condition .. that it could be used as accurate templates to build new parts (reverse engineered in your world) from any materials you see fit. There are tried and trued, high density, laminar flow construction, single matrix (wood) materials to the, exotic, laboratory derived, poly-raz-ma-taz mixes.

In the event of an upset .. I believe all will float ..

J.P. Thats a really nice Whaler you gotz there ...

Can you tell me some basic information about the nice blue mota ...

A bud of my son has an 17 in his back yard filled with junk. It’s getting hard to not buy it and save it.

Laurdale is full of kick ass yachts with serious brightwork , part of standing out in the crowd

my guess would be to sand it and hit it with a resin base coat thin enough to seep into the cracks and then shoot it with a layer of awlgrip over the top

A kid down the block said I'll trade ya a 70 Yamaha for some weldin. I said OK , thats fine .. he pulled it out of his truck and set it by the fence ..

I thought to myself .. little dudes pretty strong, and hey it's got an alright wheel on it.
I noticed a bit of sun shinin thru at the back of the cowl .. then he brought the powerhead in the shop ... in two boxes ..

If I make a 15" out of it .. should be about right for an alum jon boat .. no ???

I ain't gotz money for no Whaler , real or otherwise ...

My dad had a new in 84', he saw this and said "I would like to have another one". I responded to him, "you can have this one just let me clean it up first". He has always been a yamaha guy (wave runners, snowmobiles, motorcycles, quads, and outboards) so his only request was to put a yamaha on it.

Another one of our Whalers-This is my only boat that goes in the salt on weekly basis. We run this to dinner at least twice a week on the intracoastal. It is a jet drive 4 cylinder turbo charged intercooled diesel (18 miles a gallon at idle).
