    All the wood pieces look good enough to be used as "exact templates" .
    Compared to metal .. wood is easy to work with. Cut, sand, varnish, glue and screw.

    ...question: what did whaler call the baby blue or powder blue gelcoat color on the insides of the older 16'7'' whalers? i know the later whalers inside color they called "desert tan" gelcoat...

    Had a 17 with live wells on the back made boat longer and killed porpoise. Had to rig my 245 Bridgeport on it. Out ran all of the lake and bays in the tournaments I fished. The looks I got with that lil screamer were priceless. Whalers still the best utility boat you can get
