    Suzuki outboards for pontoon boats?

I know they Aren’t Mercs, but does anybody have any experience with 4 stroke Suzuki’s? They have been building hi perf engines for bikes for years. One would think that for pontoon use they would be just fine. There are some deals out there with a five year warranty and in stock. I am thinking a 115. Anybody? Thanks

Wavetowave recently did an article on Suzuki (and Honda) outboards. The 115 has 2.56 gears, which would suit a toon.

I have a Suzuki 250 SS on my 21 paramount. It is a great engine. Very smooth, quiet and gets great mileage. It came with 6 yrs of warranty standard.

How's the Zuke run on the Paramount?
We have a lake home in Alabama and 75 % of the boats are toons, and alot of them have Zukes .Must be something to it?

I have a 24ft Manitou Legacy 373 with a '18 200HP Suzuki and love it. It is super quiet and smooth, has plenty of power throughout the entire RPM band and is easy on the gas. The only downside I have ran into is prop selection. I went through a bunch of props end ended up going with the $700+ Suzuki brand stainless prop. Not sure about the 115, but that 200 really needed the large diameter prop.

Our yacht club swapped the old yam 40 2 strokes out for a fleet (6) of new 60 suzuki's, they didnt even make 12 months of use.
Dealer a the club once a week trying to keep them running.
What it did show was the hours, they were all over 1500hrs inside 12 months but that made everyone realise the old 2 strokes must be at 5000+hrs and many years.

It runs does pretty good. Runs high 60s and gets good mileage. My paramount is all redone and was built stout. It’s roughly 2500lb hull now so quite a bit heavier than the original advertised weight of 1800lbs. I’ve run it on lake Martin in Alabama on 4th of July weekend and it handled the rough water well.

We still have the choice out here ( asia) for mid range 2 strokes, they of course are carby so lose the fuel consumption race but outlast 4 strokes and overall are cheaper to run.
Club sunk one, recovered next morning, got water out cranked over, dealer wants 75% of new cost to repair...

Don’t know about the newer ones
but a Bayman friend put thousands of hours on mid 2000’s models
    115/140 hp or so
    he loved them
    wore the skegs off
eventually the blocks and exhaust housings rotted away
    salt water use

I have a friend on our lake that has a 200 Suzi on a Tri-toon and he is very happy with it, and the long 5 or 6 year warranty. He said he would not hesitate to purchase another one.

a buddy has zuki's on a regulator CC, been on the boat at least 5+ years and I think he's had great reliability out of them. He fishes out of the keys and heads out pretty far on the regular.

I've seen Suzukis, Yamahas, Mercs all run with little to no issue 3000+ hours. I think with the 4 strokes your mostly good if you do regular maintenance. 115 almost any brand I wouldn't worry about personally.

Heck, I regularly work on Ficht injectors and everyone knows the reputation those hold. I'm of the mindset, take care of it and it will take care of you.

That being said, I'm sure all brands have some sort of premature failures, take what you read online with a grain of salt.
