GPS speedometer question
Installed my new Autometer ProComp GPS speedometer in the dash yesterday afternoon and plan to wire it up and install the antenna this afternoon. It has the ability to display hours on engine and odometer miles, among other things. Looking at the instructions, I am to wire in a lead that is hot all the time, and another that is hot when ignition is on. This caused me to wonder about something.
I have a battery switch that I use to kill all "fire" to the boat when I'm not using it. If I wire the "hot all the time" lead through the switch, as I'd like to, will the memory of the hours elapsed and the odometer information be erased when I kill all power with the battery switch, or is there some sort of battery in the unit itself that enables it to retain the memory of these things, even if all power to it is killed?
Thanks in advance, Stan

Well, 57 views and nobody knew the answer so I called AutoMeter.
It doesn't matter if power is killed to the unit, the memory of the hours, miles etc. will not be erased.
