And don't forget the barges, after the sun goes down it gets pretty dark on that river. Away from downtown, it gets dark and the tows aren't lit up very good, a little green light, and red light on the corners and a flashing white in the middle, very hard to see, head has to be on a swivel at all times. I live in a house overlooking the river and Gator is right about the logs, sometimes, whole trees floating down the river.

on year at the Rumble on the River, on the Ohio, we watched a deer swim across the river the saw refrigerator float past.
And car tires mounted to rims!

When it is at pool though…., and nice, it’s about as pretty of water as you’ll see anywhere!

Some of our river trips will probably be spent on the hook at an island, which we have done before.

As to the barges dude. They scare the baJesus out of me!

Yrs ago, me and the Mrs. took my 16 foot Checkmate down to Gallopolis and got a room Friday night to be able to be on the river first thing Saturday morning.

On Saturday morning, the river was packed tight with fog!

    Scariest thing I’ve seen.
Right up to the level of the top of the hills along the shoreline clear from there above.

All you could see was fog all the way to the opposite bank!

I decided to put in anyhow and figured we would just idle as close to the shoreline as we could get without tearing up a good prop.

Made it about a quarter of a mile before I saw what I swore was aTug coming out of the fog and said screw it and put it on the bank.

The fog lifted and it was a freaking tree!

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
