Pro Max 225 propeller
I am looking for a few props to try on my Glastron Carlson CVX-16 that I'm fixing to hang a Mercury 2.5 Pro Max 225 on. I want to prop it for midrange acceleration versus top end. The boat weighs under 800 lbs. Due to the engine weight 375-400 lbs I believe a 4 (or 5) blade would be better to add some stern lift while taking off. Since the boat is so light I suspect that the prop will not require a large diameter. Any suggestions here would be most appreciated.

A used 26 Trophy would be a good starting point (I almost always say this).
Does the boat have a pad?

+1 for a Trophy. They're plentiful and should be able to be found for less than 500.
225PM is a great engine, I love mine. Bone stock pushes my Hydrostream to the mid 90's.Last edited by tnelsmn; 04-28-2022 at 09:25 PM.

Yes, it has a 6" wide pad. The hull has no trouble generating bow lift.

I think the Trophy recommendation is good advise. I forgot to mention that this motor has the Sportmaster gearcase. This hull doesn't really need it and would run fine with a Torquemaster but the engine builder says it won't hurt anything to run it on my hull.

Setup is the key on a hull like that and what you want to get out of her. Being a straight vee and enough power to make her jump out of the water like a kangaroo that transom area and setup would be my focus first. The difference from a 23 pitch to a 25 or 26 with a promax will be like wild quick to just wild! haha But ya cant go wrong with a trophy to find were ya want to be. :]

A bravo XS would also be a good choice.
