The Electric Outboard current list price is 25% more, than the comparable-size combustion outboard engine.

No way.
Over here the future of racing is these mini boats with standard 30hp outboards.
Minimum racing weight around 400lb
Hull, no restrictions.
This one is a Briski made of GRP but there are carbon ones around
Mine is an old one running a 30hp Parsun and is slow at 45mph but the current champ runs 56mph and is headed for 60mph.
It generally takes 300hp to go 100mph and these things are going half that with 10% the horse power.
A weekend of 6 races uses 3.5 gallons of gas.
A new Hull is NZ$3.5k, New 30hp Merc 5k, rigging 1.5k, old jetski trailer 1k.

That looks and sounds like the US but is the same except we use mono hulls.
If boat racing becomes un sustainable this will likely be the last class standing.
