V-Pad to flat pad conversion 18' Outboard

Hello been a while. Wasn't sure where to put this. I'd like to have my 17deg v pad converted to flat. Getting other gelcoat work done and have inquired about this to the shop in Annapolis Md. All I got was send pics for the foreman. So,,,sounds like they are not familiar, as have not responded.
So this doesn't appear to be too difficult. Right? Is there anywhere I could guide the glass man to to see what it is about, guidance, etc.?
How much should this cost? Is there someone you could recommend near mid east coast? I am in eastern WV, about 70mi NW of DC, 90mi from Baltimore.
Problem is with certain amount of trim I can get severe chinewalk. I can usually drive out of it, but I'd like to be stable for full trim range.

    Thanks, Jim

My question is. What is the goal. Correct Chine walk?
If that is it I would suggest working thru a number of other things first.

Figure how thick you need to it do what you want to accomplished

have a wood shop cut to order

grind area where they will go extending 2 to 3 inches more for mat to attach

apply a layer of mat over prepped ground off gel coat, get air out, always get air out strength comes from fiberglass not resin. I would

use epoxy best adhesion, make sure you mix the living hell out of it and measure right,

after a layer of mat install wood where you want it, let it harden

Sand area level high chit, cut sections of mat and get some 1208 or1708 fiberglass cut to size

call Pat with Fiberglass Coatings 727 327 8117, ask for 3 to 1 ratio laminating resin I buy the gal size, the good part about this stuff it will

last a long time in storage where other resins have short shelf lives, good chit with many uses, last years.

Once you have your structure down you become Bondo Man, get a air board, I recommend a Hutchins Hustler 2000 it's expensive if only used for one project though, you can buy a cheepo anywhere, for finish Fiberglass coatings sells Velcro wide long boards about 3 ft long
or get a 3 to 4 ft piece of channel and glue a piece of sanding belt paper to it to make sure everything is straight.

do it your self, invite some friends over get a used piece of carpet and roll it over.
    DONE 10 inch's

Damn Coast Guard has a Bondo checker now?

Do they check if your window tint is too dark also ?

You remind me of the wildlife office who gave me a speeding ticket from his little flats boat, I asked if he had radar

He said only a foot of your boat was in the water, I said that's how I raise the prop for the Manatees

One of the reasons I'm moving to St Johns river, pecker heads everywhere on the water west coast.

If the boat will sit for long periods of time in the water regular bondo can absorb water...

So after your done fiberglass sanding high chit use your epoxy along with milled fibers micro balloons and some cabosil to thicken as needed, they also sell chopped fibers, or get a pair of scissors and cut some mat up small.
Or get total Fair Epoxy fairing compound is simplest thing to do, made for that purpose.

they do sell Bondo for underwater use, I use Bondo as a generic term.

I did exactly what you are talking about on my sons first boat. The objective was to teach him how to drive up on a pad and balance the boat. It ended up being so stable that it never fell of the pad and there was zero chine walk. Doug Wright and Todd D. shaped it for us and it was built up with awlfair. There was a relief or step at the transition from Vee to pad and it was really impressive results.

Well that's another way to do it...

get a 5 gal pail of phenolic micro balloon fairing compound tape off your design

A trowel ... sanding straight will be the fun part.

Well now, I know slow for you guys, but I can usually get 68 with right conditions. I have I think just touch 70 a couple of times.
This includes constant correction to keep out of walk. I'd like to hit a solid 70, with just driving;.

Ok, bought this boat 1988 Winner Spirit, brand new with trailer, brand new in 1990. No motor, for I think around $3700. Not buying another boat.
It is far as possible immaculate for it's age It has been garage kept for 30 of it's 32 yrs in my possession.
It also has full interior not stripped. Tunnel outboard guy said one time, well that's a luxury boat.
