Optimax 200hp air compressor leak
I have a 2004 optimax 200hp with 598 hours on it original compressor and have noticed that I have a small oil leak that appears to be coming from the top plate under the pulley. There is no oil under pulley but just below it where it bolts to top housing seams to be leaking I’m guessing there is just a o ring there? Compressor seams right with no play. Should I worry about this cam I replace the seal or oring?

Look for a parts breakdown for replacement O-rings and seals, gaskets. Might not be a very big deal, depends on how far you have to tear it apart. Normal lifespan for a compressor is around 800 hrs, so yours has a few hundred left if you are lucky.

It is the silver compressor which pretty it is the old style looks like they still sell the o-rings but also looks like when you pull the top out it Is part of the crank shaft of the compressor so appears to be a pretty big project to just replace the o-ring.

It shouldn't be too bad to replace the o-ring. I would pull the whole compressor, pull the head off and that crank plate off, inspect the whole thing first. If all looks good, pop that oring on and keep running it.

I've also seen them RTVed there. Don't do that it's pretty tough to pull them apart after.
