A new sport master is about $9k retail, and you can probably get for around $7,300. Plus, your 4.88 case would be worth quite a bit. Or, you could cone the 4.88.

And, like I did with my Allison 150 four stroke, I bought the engine CPO, certified pre owned from Merc. It was $8,800, as opposed to $12k new. We'll probably see more 3.4 V6 on the used market too.

Joe, That's great about your stv. Sounds like a great setup.

Not everyone, but yes .. quite a few.

It's hot, they are uncomfortable, a real one is expensive, my uneven suntan lines, it will never happen to me .. pick one or all, no wrong answer.

It's like life insurance, best time to buy it is the day before you pass away ..

Did'nt catch the finish ... but I did see what 4-stroke engine braking does to the handling when you lift ...
It's a off plane 8 mph start, I know you've been out of the game a while so.....Handles like a dream for a little kids boat as my buddies say. Lol. It's just a bunch of fun we have for 12-14 Thursday nights in a row and boat on the weekends in between. Couldn't ask for a better tweener! Looks like a LOT of people are upgrading this winter....Should be some good deals for them 2.5L and 3L guys.......

Joe P, when you coming up? We are getting our 2 strokes ready for the winter! Braap braap.

My son loves the fact that he can run his boat when ever he wants and knows it won't be towed in again. He broke down on 3 runs last year and we had to make a change aimed at dependability. It does have solid lower mounts. The prices Charlie quotes are the highest you can find and we paid no where close to them. Overall, its a great set up and much better then my first pro-comp with a 200 on it back in 1989.

Thank you for chiming in, this is the direction I want to go. Sounds like about a year's wait time, and the price hurts a bit lol... I'll have to rebuild my junk or get another 2 smoker if I want to hit the water next year

so let me get this straight , Mercury has spent tens of millions of developing a new V 8 300 hp. what makes you think they have ANY interest in making a V 6 upgrade
most overnite successes usually take at least 10 years

IMO the upgrades are already there, just need to be brought to consumer level. Sporty bolts up, but it's not advertised. Apex series has the rpm's. Midsections seem to be modular. All the pieces to the puzzle are there, just not as a package.

Looked like 20 mph to me. Must be how the camera makes my XXXX look much bigger than it really is ..

Nice to have a hobby .. kiddy boats, pork chops. I rekkon a man's gotta know his limitations ..

Yes, time does fly. Last race I entered was the 2007 Citrus Nationals. Won the Quick-16 race and the Championship. Usually 30 - 35 people bought a tech card, so just getting in the show felt like a win .. to some.

Chaz=wunderin, When only two show up for your class ... and you lose, do you tell the lady at the bank .. ohh, I forgot, you don't get paid. Do you tell your non-racin friends .. yea, got runner-up last Thursday ..

To some, buying new porkeys is not an upgrade .. it's just spendin money ..

Hey ... BTW, How come I didn't get invited to go "frolic" in the snow ...

Skeerd, an old crippled man .. wear you youngsters out ..

Larence, your facts tank seem to be running on .... Gemp-ty ..

I believe an adolescent girls birthday party full of pageantry is called a ... Sweet-16
Having not been there yourself, not knowing what a Quick-8, Quick-16, Outlaw-32 race is understandable ..

They still call me "The Mayor of Palm Beach" .. so, when I speak of races past, it's of Uuuuge events held in coliseums ... not two or three boats run on the side of a muddy lake. 1/4 mile, not Jr. dragster length tracks. You had to "earn" a spot, not everyone gets a ribbon .. yea / no, I wouldn't fit in the new "progressive" format ..

1850 lb cars making 1850 hp .. do the math. 1600 lb boats with a stock 300 porkchop ... Oh-my .. no wonder why the old timers bring up the past .. it's to keep from falling asleep.
You might get your "racer" to go 200 mph .. but you'll need to push it out the back door of a C-130 cargo plane ..

    It's true, I don't walk too good. Go-carts, mini-bikes and a Glen-L hydro, is where it started. Now that I'm eligible for social-security .. I can look back and say I wouldn't change a thing ..

Awe Chazbeen.....You are on the wrong website, nobody cares about cars here. Dime a dozen wrenchers at every track. Congrats on making it to your age....I'm sure it was challenging for ya.

Sorry Greg, it's just too easy....lol

    2004 HydroStream Venom - 3.4 Etec - August, 2011 S&F Boat of the Month

That antient history is quite the lifetime achievement award ...

If and when you make it to my age ... grasshopper. You will see what it takes to make it to another ring on the tree ..

Looking past my vast list of accomplishments, is a great complement .. since I know it comes from ....
