My guess is that the answer lies in whether the Mercury swag truck is showing up at Jasper (or wherever it is now). It was there one year that I went, then a couple years later... Poof, gone. The reason (IMHO) is that there isn't a market for what you describe anymore. If the sporty case lines up with the stock case, guys will probably have to do it like the old days with the fishing motors, and make it work for their application. Where there's a will...

I hope so, with a sporty and at least 7k rpm Soft limiter.

99% of these guys saying "Mercury should make blah blah blah...." have enough money in the bank to pay rent and buy gas to get to work. The guys with money to buy the new stuff (for the most part) are buying it and running the piss out of it.

Yeah I tend to agree. I'm a die-hard J/E and 2-stroke guy but this new Merc platform seems to be levelling the playing field. The ETEC G1 design is now well over 10 years old...Merc has made good headway....have to give them credit (how did it come to this lol). I hope it drives competition with Yamaha.

I have noticed that when you are backed in a corner you come out with insults. You are a classy guy.

Backed into a corner .. yea ya got me. I never should have posted a four year old press release .. thinkin I was gonna tease the two-stroke loyalists with news from the 2022 Miami Boat Show ..

Ohhh .. wait , that twernt me .. it was YOU WHO DID THAT ..

    I did however say .. they make a 3.4 V-6 .

Then I got the .. 4 cyl inline. 6cyl. inline lecture.

Is not repeating myself .. or giving you a shovel to dig a deeper hole .. insulting ???

No, I think it's not .. If I said : You &^$*(*(% $^&*(*(&* *%#@#%^&** can't you read the date on the press release .. then that can be seen as a bit disrespectful or insulting .

.. But I didn't do any of the three ..

Instead I asked a question about lower units ..

Crickets on the lower .. a quick role reversal .. and now my character is brought into question ..
Sounds like some "B~woke" ... to me ..

You really have to laugh at what it has taken to make a 4 stroke do what the the most simplistic 2L two stroke could do 25years ago...

That ACME rocket is a marvel of engineering. 200 HP from 200 CI .. Ohh wait, didn't Smokey do that in the early 1950's with an all cast iron engine, nail head valves, flat tappet cam, mechanical advance, twin-one bbl carbs, .. yup, that 2022 "racing engine" is something for Wile E Coyote to be proud of ..

Sorry it appears I posted old information. I confess that pleasure engines like the 3.4 are not on my radar. So, when I saw the (new to me) press release for the lightweight V6 4 stroke I was impressed. Seeing that many people have posted why is Mercury Racing not supporting smaller boats with light 4-strokes this seemed like something Mercury Racing should use and wanted to share on Scream. Bump up the power a little, add a Sportmaster and problem solved. Maybe the market is just not there for Mercury Racing to develop that engine package.
