I've never been a fan of a cleaver on my Viking. Had good luck with choppers, SRX, and my favorite and best for my rig is a 30ET.

It does seem that they guys well over 100 tend to like the cleavers. Mine runs mid 90's and just feels very loose to me with my cleaver. But that prop has been worked and seems pretty thin.

The SRX and choppers just needed a bit more driving, tended to walk a bit more.

Update to all that had input. Motor is about 3/4 - 1" above the pad, i havent checked exactly and am just going off water pressure and where it was when i first checked. I think i have a little more room to play with on my motor height as i get 25+ psi at WOT.

With the new case i got 92 at 7000 on a humid 98 degree day. i havent changed the setup since this run. i believe with another 1/8-1/4" i'll still have enough water pressure to keep cool on a normal day. also should be able to spin my motor another couple hundred rpms with cooler air.

i found around 50-60 lbs sat in the rear port side of the boat balanced it best for driving solo.

still running the 28 et cut chopper

Stick with me kid, I'll make ya famous Yes, you can go higher and it will go faster. Some cooler weather and a little more height should get you to 95-96.

Just saw this, sorry. I'm 3/4" above the pad at the moment. I hung the motor on the lowest hole last fall and tried it close to 2" above. Seems like I just got more slip, didn't get any more speed. I feel like it wanted to walk more too.

OP, my boat loves 50lbs of led shot in the far back left wing when I'm solo. Night and day without it.

Seems we're both on that quest to break 100!

lead shot is what im using too. smallest thing I could find for the weight. I hope to break that 100 mph barrier, but its probably gonna have to be real cool so I can raise my motor up higher

This is where you gotta get careful. 100 mph with 200 horsepower is impractical. Too many guys tried getting there with the "up" button and regretted it. In real life, upper 90's is about it. Of course, there's plenty of people running 100 on the internet with 175's, and I believe every one of em

yeah, my frankenmotor doesn't have quite the power for it. hopefully I can get some real power strapped to the back eventually. I wanna break that barrier before I sell and get in a tunnel.

Put a Mazco RE-4 in 30 pitch on it you will lose RPM and gain MPH.Be careful how much positive trim you run till you are very used to it,with the right prop it will carry the bow without lots of positive trim, flat is faster than flying the bow real high. The 20 ft Vegas below was 82 all day with that big old 235 fishing mota.
