Magnolia Mag Cat Update
Well she's getting closer. I've gone through both motors and with good compression, I decided to stay out of the inside of them. Work done so far: Carbs rebuilt with all new fuel lines and filters; new thermostats; fuel pumps rebuilt; water pumps rebuilt; new spark plugs; new starter solenoids; coil packs replaced; gas tanks removed, cleaned and sending units replaced; all new gauges and switches on dash; all connections on wiring redone (new connectors, dielectric grease and heat shrink tubing added): new steering wheel.
Have been out quite a few times and motors run better every time. Last few times out, no issues with start up and long idles up the waterway. Actually at a point where I (almost) trust them!
The boat was restored in 2000 and the hull was in great shape other than some minor dings from 20+ of use - until - I took a ride with the guy i bought the boat from who'd owned it for 30 years prior. Thought it'd be cool to let him drive it since he hadn't for 10 years or so and while turning around in a marina, he errantly floored one throttle and hit the dock with the left bow. Cracked the gelcoat but no damage to the fiberglass. All good though, he had it in the shop of a yacht builder buddy of his within two days and they redid both bows and had it back to me in a week, blended so well you can't even tell. Pays to know people.
Interior is being redone now and windshield replacement afterwards so should be ready for the warm weather soon.

Cool old rig. I frequent Hampstead often. My brother lives on the ICW there. Yes, there are some good craftsman in the area that can fix and match gel coat very well. Good luck with it. Maybe I'll see you around this summer.

definitely not, 98 Mariners. The original Mercs (700's i think?) were lost in a partner dispute prior to the restoration (and my ownership) in 2000. I will say they are in fantastic shape. Take the covers off and they look unbelievable.

Too bad you couldn't get old school cowls on the newer engines.
