Would be super interesting to hang this V6 200 APX motor on a scale to get a true weight.

We have tested the Opti and the APX at Bakersfield so we have lots of Data. Mercury did a good job at making the APX equal to the Opti. As of now the lap times are a little better with our Opti. We are working on it as we speak. The rpm is different. However the prop shaft is the same RPM as the Opti. So our props work on the APX. We never stop working with props. We haven't even tried our 5 blade yet????? He was turning W.O.T. just like the Opti.

Wow.
Same props, at same prop rpm as before, 20 lbs heavier and already close on lap times????
Badd Ass!
Please continue sir.
Hats off to Merc.

Wow, Very cool! Thanks for posting.
Wonder what a pack of those will sound like in a race. Same prop shaft speeds. Amazing. That 5 blade could be the ****.

I have a 2012 XS gen 2 opti and i believe my rpm limit is 7200 and produces a strong pull from 6800 to that 7200.
Not at all trying to nix the thread or the new motor - just trying to state the fact of the rpm .

Our Opti limiter is 8000 and we would hit it every straightaway, Now the APX limiter is 6800 RPM however the prop shaft RPM is the same or real close to it. In other words the gear ratio is different. As for now we are not hitting the limiter with the props we have. When we tested in Parker with there motor that had 60 hrs. on it. We tested 12 props and some of them hit the limiter. We are still dialing it in. I hope you get what I'm saying sometimes I have a hard time saying things right. The reason your Opti is 7200 rpm is you are not running the Opti 200xs SST.

I'm not sure about the horse power. I guess you could ask someone that has put it on a dyno. It's even hard to believe Mercury after all they said the Opti weighed 300 pounds. They made the APX with a gearbox that has 4 different gear ratios. They ended up using the highest gear ratio. I don't know if you can get the other gears. However the three lower gears won't do you much good our courses are to short. The 360 APX also has a gearbox. I'm not sure what gear they use.

Here is the difference between the Opti and the APX starts.

Here are all three motors running together. We ran that same motor the next day. That's when we ran through all the props. And his lap times were the same as his Opti.

Innless you are racing I would say not the best thing for it. We hit the limiter on every straight a way. We were also changing reeds after every race. Not really cheap. We also go through a lot of props.
