    300XS Leaking Tilt Ram

I have an early 300XS with the 3 ram tilt and trim. The tilt ram (center one) is leaking on the top cap seal around the ram. My dealer says parts are NLA and Merc wants to sell the whole T&T assembly. Anyone know where a seal kit might be found? What are my options?

    Thanks!

I’ve had this a couple times and solved it with Lucas transmission fix. It softens the seals and stopped the leaks. Sounds like a hack job but it worked good for me. Lasted many years too.

Don't use snake oil. It never works in the end.

Like I have sourced seals for my Seastar steering, your local hydraulic shop. Just don't tell them what it is for.

Same here, local hydraulic shop can almost always pick the right seals for you (at a fraction of the cost compared to Merc).

There’s nothing snake oil about it. Got dry hands? No need to replace your skin just add some lotion and your good to go. Rubber dries out, adding some lotion to soften them up isn’t going to hurt a thing. Hydraulic fluid is all basically the same it’s the additives and viscosity that are the differences.

suit yourself it’s a lot of work to tear these apart and you won’t hurt a thing trying the Lucas first.
