My Dad was the instigator in building the boats. I set up all the power, drive, and radio systems. Here's some of what Dad and I built.

This boat I built has removable sponsons. Also adjustable sponson pads. Like the real unlimiteds you can adjust dihedral in one and anhedral in the other.

Story time: the last race I attended was about 4 years ago. It was the last event of the year. We had a electric hydroplane heat(loose class rules, small club). There was 5 boats all fairly fast. My friend and myself get the hole shot were neck and neck around the first corner and down the back straight, he blows over his carbon fiber popeye which is all black no paint. Along comes a traxxas m41, he runs over popeye. Now there is two boats upside down in the far straight. My dad pulled out of the race (smart). So now it's just me and a overpowered whiplash that I setup for my neighbor. So I'm slowing down for the dead boats I can barely see. The whiplash catches up, were going at it for four laps. Two to go the whiplash center punches the traxxas m41 completely destroys it. I mean nothing but plastic shrapnel. I figured I had won, last boat standing came in one lap early got a dnf. The chap with the m41 made a big fuss. Said it was his wife's boat and wanted my neighbor to pay for it. The friend with the carbon popeye had propeller marks from stem to stern but no cracks or real damage. The whiplash had some repairable damage, but my neighbor tore all the work I'd done to it out and it sits broken and unrigged on his shelf. That was the last race for me. To many club meetings and drama for me. The local lake, friends and family works for me.

Some nice goodies. I love the hobby, but what you described in the last post is why I only go out and have fun with friends anymore. I was a member of a local club and it got to be too much. Man seeing that Funtana makes me want to take mine out of the box and build it lol

I bought out an older gentleman's collection and there was one new in the box as well. Such good looking planes. Mine is right from the that time where they advertised it as gas or electric, and basically gave you both build options.

I went to check out the guys collection because I wanted two Carl Goldberg edge 540's he had new, the 77" ones as I was looking to get into a large gas plane. I ended up buying everything he had at a really crazy deal. Now I have a bedroom that looks like a hobby shop lol. I should see what size this Funtana is, now I'm curious.

On a side note, I really need to sell this stuff off, as that was the plan.

I smashed a real nice large edge 540 into the ice years ago. Total loss.
