16 year old will do 200 mph at Le Mans.

Josh Pierson is set to debut in the 24 Hours of Le Mans sportscar race aged only 16 after being confirmed on Wednesday as the youngest ever competitor in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

At 16, I was still sub 100 mph.

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

First car at 16 was a 65 Plymouth Sport Fury 426 wedge with a 4 speed. Still can't believe Dad let me buy that thing. It would do 100 in third gear. Once word of my driving style got back to Dad, no more Plymouth. Wish the kid a fun safe ride. Very cool.

The kids are coming up through F-1 car racing too.

    A changing of the guard.
More computer expert than understanding motors, red line, shift points, 4 wheel drift, clutch use etc.

I look at the old cars and am blown away by their simplicity compared to current.

Moto GP bikes are the same.
Launch control, wheelie control, clutchless shifting etc.

Regardless, a 16 yr old at LeMans?
    Astonishing!

    Good luck to him!!
