Sometimes we just race what we have!
Love these things and their drivers!

Or……….
Im a clamp on guy but if a big block Chevy at 7k, under full load don’t stand the hair up on your arms…, nothing will!
Watch his left foot in the onboard.
Controls the canard wing which you can see move through the starboard side windshield.
I miss those days.

Excellent post Gary. I have watched the longtails many times. Their get together looked a lot like our river runs but with funny looking boats. Those things look about as safe as Chicago at night. I see safety is paramount. Looks like a lot of fun and it's nice to see our addiction is not ours's alone. Second video was good. I have never raced roundy round stuff and cannot imagine crossing the wake and eating one of those rooster tails. Gotta be a rush.

Drove a long tail at a local lake once, not too hard in a straight line but turning, OMG. I never went as fast as these guys but I can imagine the feeling.
Thais are great at improvising, like the thread title suggests. Nothing fancy but we’ll find a cheap way to make it work. Don’t care much for safety or air pollution, just get out and have fun. (As seen in the video, don’t forget the local “Hong Tong” whiskey )

In the video, most of them have a guy in the bow for turning.
They slow as much as they can and the guy in the bow paddles it around.
I am a HUGE fan of the people w/nothing, build something then race it.
The drinking and lack of safety is refreshing to see as well.
Not that it’s right but after decades of big brother telling us what we can/can’t do….., I like it.
When I was building race boats in Houston, (1980-ish) they had a boat race in a lake w/no class rules.
Race whatever you had, across the lake, onto the beach, chug a pitcher of beer, and back!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
