A bit late for Christmas... but...

my wife has had one of those for at least 20 years now ,,, but hers has a broomstick sticking out the front

Oh, I am sure it has 3 axis gyros!!! You turn loose of the sticks and it will hover on its own. Unlike my old crude heli that only had one for the tail rotor... The rest was up to you! Hell, my newer planes have 3 axis gyros when activated will almost fly themselves. The two that have a GPS in them WILL!

Amazing technology. My old heli was a handful to operate but a nice challenge. Hit alot of stuff before I finally killed it. I have a large building so most of my flying was indoors. Took it out once when it was a bit too windy and darn near lost it. Found it in a bean field after a half hour search.
