New 4 stroke engines
Due to medical conditions, I've been out of the boating scene for about 10 years. Recently I've been out in a few boats running MERC 4 stroke engines, and I've been very impressed.
My question is this, can one of these new 4 strokes run something like the old offshore/ridgeback exhaust ? Can the mid be drilled out to make them louder ? I am curious if anyone has done it, and how it would sound.

To find out if anyone has tried modifying a large 4 stroke you must first find someone that can afford to acquire one. They sound pretty good stock.

There is a video of a guy that put an electric cutout on a Merc V8 with a piece of stainless turn down. Sounds good.
