SportMaster 3.0 1.62 gears, pinion, 20" shaft needed.
So this summer aka July, my 21 year old very carefully maintained and babied Sportmaster 3.0 on my 1998 Mercury 300x finally took a crap. Drive shaft broke in half right right at the pinion gear. I had to send it out to EDM and laser machining to cut out the shaft and pinion. Now I have been waiting 6 efing months for Mercury to send parts. All I hear is "Supply Chain" delay bullcrap. If anyone has the drive shaft, pinion gear and 1.62 gear set with forward / reverse... I would love to purchase these. The case, prop shaft, carrier bearings, seals and everything else is 100% good. I have tried every website and every shop in Lake Havasu and no one has parts. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Hey anyone telling you they can't get shafts because of supply chain issues is full of it. Coming from a merc dealer here I know the shafts are available cause I've bought a few in the last 3 months. Any other dealer telling you that they are not available is crazy. The gearset I cannot say, haven't tried to buy those. But 20" driveshafts are right around $300 brand new right now.

Fwd+Pinion (the only way you can get it from mercury) is out of stock for a month and they run around $650
Reverse gears are available and they also run $650. Damn thats a lot of money for a reverse gear, but...a 2.5 sporty gearset is like 2200, so I guess it isnt that bad.

Any Mercury dealer can get them for you now. I could order you one up here but then you'd have to pay for shipping down there. Better off going to your local dealer.

any dealer? I have been waiting since October, everytime my dealer calls they say next month... I have talked to a couple of other dealers and everyone is saying no ETA. IF you can get them, I would pay for shipping. No one around here or in Havasu can get them.
we are talking about a 3.0/3.2 Sportsmaster gears? I am not doubting you, I really want you to be able to get them. Let me know!! TIA

Are you still looking for 1.62 gears. If so I may have something. Shoot me a text at 4o251049oo, if I hear from you I will dig out what I have.
Thanks

Sometimes Mercury parts will "show" a date, and sometimes they come, sometimes they don't. I have 2 opti oil tanks that were set to ship in September... of 2021.... here I wait.... and the funniest part is my active orders with mercury still show sep 2021 as the ship date. Like they can't even bother to update it.
