Mayor says "city and police are responsible" after teen biker dies in traffic stop
https://www.yahoo.com/news/mayor-cit...182227513.html
I have been chased on my dirt bike by cops too, but I was not running in a metropolitan city on pavement! When does one get to be responsible for their actions? Or learn to ride a bike with knobbies on the pavement. I do not mean for this to be political, but maybe it should be posted in there as I am guessing it will become political and already has.....1973 Viper - sold

The mayor is an idiot. That kid was stupid, period. As always they blame the police. It says Grant is an "independent" on his bio, but he attended the China University of Political Science and Law....???? WTF did they elect him? That alone makes him suspect!

And if the police saw the kid and did nothing then the kid got hit by a car and died. I bet the mayor would blame the police. Shame that politicians are too afraid to just say, personal responsibility matters.
That idiot mayor just opened up the possibility of a very expensive lawsuit for the city.-----------------------

And they not could help but make a racial issue out of it. Along with making "black" a proper noun.
Dealership? I didn't see where they said the bike was stolen...?

Police should have rifles with scopes so that can shoot the people running from them and avoid a chase.

OK, a 13yr old boy dies as a result of a dirt back accident. VERY sad, as I lost a friend at that age riding in the woods, and my condolences to his family and friends. Very sad, but very avoidable. This boy was operating a motor vehicle underage and on a public highway illegally. Now I did the same thing back then, but if I got caught it would have been my ass. And if there had been an accident, my fault. No blaming the police or the city, no apology from the mayor, but severe consequences at home.
I am seeing the same thing around here. Kids riding ATVs on the streets recklessly and intimidating/startling other drivers. And the police doing nothing. So for that reason I do place some responsibility on the police for failing to enforce laws pertaining to this.
Again, condolences to the family. He may well have been a fine young man, but he made the choice to ride illegally with tragic results.18 Talon/2.4 carb SOLD

We've all done it and with the knowledge there would be an ass kicking if we got caught. This is a parenting issue. Had fear been instilled by a responsible parent he may have not ridden on the street illegally. I was told as a kid that if any of my actions caused the police to be involved, I was on my own. Don't even bother calling.
