    Merc 2.5 crank oil gear

    Hi,
Happy Christmas. I have a 2.5 Merc in bits that’s had the oil injection removed including the plastic worm gear from The crank. Would it be ok to reassemble the powerhead without this or are they balanced from the factory with it?

It will be fine. Little bit of stuffing loss.

...if the gear is still good, leave it on the crank. then you wont have any loss, & someone has the option of utilizing it in the future. no performance loss of leaving it in place. use the correct oring plug/block-off plate for the hole...
