It’s amazing how strong fiberglass is when you see how thin the skins are on these things and yet holds your motor up even with rotted transom. Your going to have a sweet little rig when it’s all done

Tell me about it it’s unbelievable! I’m building this transom to hold a 200+hp motor. But all probably never get there as the boat would be under water form the weight but will be strong enough to hold anything!

Nicely worked , personally I would have still used Baltic birch or equivalent in the transom etc and balsa core as needed.
Hope it works out perfectly for you.Last edited by FMP; 01-02-2022 at 09:20 PM.

Thanks. I agree but my motor is bigger than the boat and might just go bigger and better in the future so I wanna build it right. Not ever have to worry about it!

Got my core materials I will be doing a full composite build so it lasts forever also this will be a light weight build! Gonna build it strong and as light as possible!
couple pics of the first core going in. More to go in later on! Not to happy with all the air bubbles. Will be grinding them down! It was my first time fiberglassing I probably should of tried on something else first but whatever that’s the way I am just go for it ahah! But it worked out it got a good bond and it’s doing it’s purpose, just a couple air bubbles need to be corrected.
Core 1/2”PVC foam
Cossa board 3/4”

I recall having this discussion with member Nice Pair and one if his beautiful restorations. Ply or composite in the transom. Maybe he'll chime in and give some info.

Got my Cossa transom epoxied in and I also cored the side wings, I thought to doing that as I was looking how to make it real strong, So it’s basically a full transom now “worlds first full transom hydrostream” ??..
The side wings are very thin and it would of been a bit of a pain to fiberglass the Cossa to the wings without the core there because the Cossa stuck out about 3/4” so I would of had to wrap it in, So it worked out even better with the core there and now it’s crazy strong without any glass over it yet!
glued in with 2:1 epoxy and woven roven/1708 FB
