holy effin winter blues and cabin fever.......wife came down with the optimus prime version of this covid stuff on the 24th......losing my helper during recovery was kinda tricky, but then I started puking and feeling like **** on the 4th.

Today marks the first time either of us have left the house. Omicron might not be the deadly version, but damn, it's still the put you on your ass and make you feel miserable for 2 weeks version.

Things are looking up, the days are getting longer, we've burned through half our winter's wood, and i haven't had to plow the snow off the drive yet!

Started my Physical Therapy today, only a few more weeks in the sling, positive thoughts!

I have this as bad as anybody can get it, and have had for yrs.

My buddy Miami Dave was visiting me in Cols Ohio yrs ago, who told me after flying in:

    Why would anyone live here?
You could tell when you were over Ohio because everything was gray and dead!

I was working on attempt #1 at moving to Fla.

Ive now done that move twice and now back living in Ohio while planning escape attempt #3.

Here’s what I’ve learned in the meantime and do to try and cope.

    The worst is over.
    Our days are getting longer.
    Yay!
It starts off as small improvements and soon becomes +3 mins a day of day light!
Youll laugh but look at length of daylight 30 days up compared to now.

I also consider April 1 as the unofficial, first day of boating season in Ohio.
So, I count it down on my calendar in the shop and in my day timer.

My wife bought me a tanning bed for our basement!
    Theyre cheap, used.
She put a beach mural on the wall behind it and an electric palm tree beside it!

Once my two yr old Checkmate Convincor project ran right, a month ago, I had an epiphany.

    Told the Mrs:

Let me finish the boat, work has slowed so I can take time off, we’ll take the boat south through winter and look for our next private Idaho and then north through the Great Lakes during summer.

I also subscribe to more car/bike mags (paper and tv) over the off season to keep me occupied.

I also have approx 30 boat/bike/car saved e-bay/craigs search’s that are fun to get every day.

Key to supporting the seasonal traveling will be finances, so we shall see.
Sure would love to sit on the front porch at the lake and pick your brain about the move to Fla. trips #1, #2, and #3. The sunshine tax has always been my stopper. I'll buy the beer!

    Remember, no state tax

We spent last weekend in Huron.

    But, you’re on!

I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Found another show to tape/watch to make it to spring.

    Farm Truck and Azn!
These two are crazy buddies from the fastest (405) street racing series.

Theyve now hooked up w/Jeff Lutzs shop who builds there dumb ass ideas!

Just watched one where they took a ‘40’s vintage camper trailer and set the shell over a van body w/a 500 hp small block and nitrous.

They show the completed project being towed behind their pickup, on the freeway when the truck exits the freeway, w/them driving the camper trailer like it came off the hitch and is out of control, then take off and drive away!

Has the hitch sticking out of the front of it and even has two propane tanks on it!

They tinted the windows so you can’t tell they’re in there!

A 30 min distraction while on the treadmill!

Things are still kicking ass, the wife put her car in the body shop 3-4 weeks ago and we're still 6-8 weeks out on parts.

Then, 3 days later the kid's car got totaled.

Both were fine, but, hey, a dude could use a break here....

On a positive note, @Capt . Insane-O finished my 280 up end of Nov/Early Dec, picked it up and it's ready to bolt on the boat.

Vixen - haven't touched it yet, still gotta buy materials, check on engine status with @Capt , ........ maybe it will get warmer soon.

Other hobbies - Picked up an AZ 1982 K5 Jimmy.....so, that's gonna be fun to tow the boat with this summer

I've never ridden in a squarebody that rode good LOL.

This currently has a super lift 4" lift, all springs, no blocks, rides pretty decent. I know there are some companies that make some real nice springs for them, but they're $$!!

If the salt and the freeze thaw weather cycle would both stop I could go take it for a ride.

Springs I was talking about weren't a pack of 4-6 thick leaves, they were 10-15+ thinner leaves. Yea, they are expensive, but those short wheel base leaf sprung 4x4s can buck pretty bad. I drove a 83 SWB with a 4" lift for years.

Some people use the long rear springs from a Suburban and they say that rides a lot better.

Sub's have two rear length versions depending on yr , rating, etc
The Subs are good, smooth, great in the deep snow.

Ice Fishing that is antithesis to my sunny youth, playing in the warm waters of Florida.

When we saw people swimming in the waters of central Florida, in the dead of winter, we said there are some northerners vacationing in Florida.

The best to your health. Stay comfortable next to the fireplace.

    I saw that!!! Crazy f**kers!!!

I have an old '93 Z71 that belonged to my father. It already has the big 3/4 ton rear. My buddy has a front diff out of a 3/4 ton he offered for the project. Toying with the idea of building my own farm truck with a turbo LS motor and running it in 4 wheel drive through the quarter. It has plenty of patina with the clear pealing, etc. No one would ever expect it.

BTW I don't see how Ohio winters could be any more miserable than Louisiana. It may be a bit warmer at times, but the constant overcast, rain, and mud... What I call suicide weather!

BUT to pass the time, I am putting together another RC plane. This time it is a F6F Hellcat with retracts and all.

You need an RC plane. You have plenty of room! I have a Cessna C188 new in the box I make you a deal on!
