not to many folks still mess round with 2.4 now days and not near as many pistons or parts still vailable for them either. Chrome bores are good though ive had a few of them in my shop over the years any steel sleeves in your block (most do have now due to age of block)

Merc pistons will work fine for you. I agree with another post. Not many people throw $ @ 2.4.

I Rebuilt my 2.4 motor this past winter. I have two sleeves and the rest are chrome. I am running wisecos in every hole and I’ve been very pleased with them. I always let my mother warm up before I get in it. Personally, I love my old 2.4. Great motor

I'm trying to get our group to switch to stock 2.4's for our sprint races and away from modified 2L's.
You can still find xr4's and the chrome bores blocks. I'm going to use, used pistons with new rings on the 2.4 blocks I've collected. I've had good luck with WSM's in other buildsLast edited by Baker343; 12-21-2021 at 08:58 PM.

I got loads of good used merc pistons for a 2.4L. Don't listen to these guys saying that not many people put money in 2.4s...thats a lie. The people HERE just don't or don't wanna admit they do. 2.4Ls are damn good when they are built right and if (as mentioned above) you let them warm up.
Merc Pistons are good, as a re wizard and WSM. I would not go used on a set of anything unless its a super good deal. Let me know if you cant find any, I have like 20 or so...

**** 2.4s r dang good motors and run hard. You just can't take a die grinder to em to port em out cause chrome flakes and can't hone em. That's y lots people don't run em
