    NEW MERCURY 200HP four stroke

    All,

I just orders a 23 foot tritoon (Bennington 23LX) with a 200 hp four stroke. I am trying to come up with the best prop/set up and I am doing a bit of research. I noticed that the difference between the 200 and the 225 is 200 rpm according to the Mercury site. (200 hp 5000-5800 rpm and 225hp 5200-6000 rpm) So as I am doing my research, I found a review of the boat that I am buying, and it is running 39mph at 5850rpm running a Mercury Enertia 15.3 x 14" three blade. My first thought is that possibly the 200 is hitting a rev limiter and that the RPM's are in the proper range due to a rev limiter and not due to the boat running the correct prop? Maybe a 15.3 x 15" would have the same result with the prop controlling the RPM's?

Any insight or advice that anyone can share would be appreciated.

I would go with the Eco enertia 16" dia. I can tell you that with a 300R, sportmaster, and 17" setback on my 27 Playcraft, I am running a 19 pitch at 6200 with a 1.75 gear ratio and getting 57 mph as a best ever. The toons need a big blade surface to run. Tried Rev 4 and results were very close but doesn't do as well with a load of people on board.

The Eco Enertia only goes to a 17" pitch. There is a good chance the Mercury 200hp or 225hp will not spin a 17" Eco on a 23ft tritoon. I ended up with a 15x15 regular Enertia on my tritoon of similar size. I never tried the Eco 17" but tried the Enertia 17" and my 200hp Mercury V6 could not spin it to top RPM .
