they run best (in my experience) with the engine mounted on the transom. that is with LTV closed deck models tho, the bass boat might like a little setback with the added weight. your speeds seem pretty reasonable given the HP of the engine you're running.

I have always heard that. I don't know how I would pull that off, without a 15" mid. Upper bolts are 2" above my transom.
My boat is probably a little heavier with troller mounted to the bow. I also replaced the transom and knees. 2" transom plus 1/2 aluminum (extra weight). One piece knees ( little more weight). Were not going to talk about my belly.
Doesn't seem to like to lift till about 60.
I just measured my plate I guess it's only 6".
It was nice of you to say reasonable versus Slow.

My shadow has a very similar bottom to your laser. Mine gets up on the pad and really wants to roll around 63 or 64 mph. Sounds about the same as yours.

Yeah, if you have the skill and the balls, they will haul the mail.! I am still learning how to drive mine on pad so I’m taking it easy going for the top and number. Should max out around 82 or so. 200 motor. I have a picture of a buddy of mine‘s GPS speedometer in his shadow at 106 with a Bridgeport on back. That was tournament load! Lol

    Update: Made 78mph last night.
Maybe if I lost 20 lbs, and got rid of the troller, I could get 80.

We had a STV Kevlar Version with a 2.4 Bridgeport and then a 2.5 260 / with MOD VP gear case 20”
mounted on CMC jack plate. 26 pitch Mazco RE chopper - would run 90-92 mph Saftey without lifting the nose. sure cornered hard. The boat could go faster but above mid 90s they were notorious for blowing over

Nice! Always good to hear another Laser/STV story.

I wonder if you could have bested the century mark with a cleaver, or drag prop? My boat runs way flatter with a cleaver vs. round ear. Although, if your anything like me, I don't want to be in a boat wreck.

I took Laser Ed's advice and bought a four blade cleaver. If I remember right, he ran his nearly 120mph.
Not that I'm anywhere near his speeds. I had the same problem he did with excessive slip using 3 blade props, trying for top end numbers.

    I do like a 28p chopper, if I have a passenger.
    Also have a 28p mazco, and 28p Signature E.T. in 3 and 4 blade, that I haven't tried yet.

Yeah, alot before I bought a Champion, and then a Bullet. Still fish out of it when I take it out. I have to watch where I stand on the deck, a little thin above the deck reinforcement channels.

It was kind of gnarly to run a drill into the deck, in order to mount a 10 cent troller.
