Cool 50HP Merc Carb Help 😢

    I've got a 1995ish 50HP Merc been sitting a while.
Fuel is leaking out of the main orfice plumbing and running down and out the front. Leaking everywhere.
So I took carbs apart and checked needles and seats. They look like the coating is coming off the needles and was clogging up the seats they were stuck . I've cleaned them up. Fired it up again on hose, and they were ok for about a min then back to leaking again. The top one first started leaking then 30sec later the middle carb started leaking. The bottom one never did. Took them apart again everything looks normal. Any help would bClick image for larger version.

I don't think the needles seal anywhere other than on the very tip gold color area. So with that coating removed/scraped off they will behave normal. Could the float levels been a possible reason to the leaving fuel out the front?

Those needles are whipped. Only buy the merc needles, the aftermarket are useless.

You don't just put new needles in.

Probably not the case but make sure the floats are not filling up with gas. I've seen a few of the plastic floats full of gas and causing the carb to flood.
