Hey SJD1974. Your problem with engine losing power might be a little difficult to diagnose, because it is intermittent. I would recommend starting simple by replacing fuel hose and primer bulb. I've had problems with both especially the grey marine fuel hose. Then you might check your coils. Sounded like you had your carbs apart and cleaned them up. If you want to pm your # I'll text you testing procedures for your stator, swittchboxes and coils.

The switch boxes that are on it now are not a matching set. I don't if the person before use didn't know you should replace them as a pair.
Its been tough here with the temps in the 40,s and working on the boat, no real good way to test it, so its a do all i can before spring and then go like crazy testing it.1988 Bass Tracker 1800FS Tournament W/ Mercury 150 BlackMax 2.0

Anyone that works on their own mercury, should have one. Or a buddy you can borrow it from.

Can anyone tell me what the torque specs are for the reed cage bolts and the intake bolts are?
I have all my parts
Going to now clean the carbs, replace the needle and seats, put in the CCMS reeds, all new fuel lines from tank to carbs and everything in between, cleaned the tank inside and out, new bleed lines, new switch boxes(going to replace all terminals while doing it), going to add a jack plate to it(thanks ShadowFlier for you help with that) and move motor up 2.5 to 3 inches, removed oil injection completely, removed idle stabilizer black box and finally set timing to the range 21 to 23. Replaced lots of gauges to make sure all were working, to many to list.
My son and i are very excited to get it on the water, its to bad we live in Michigan and there's going to be ice on the water. Best we are going to be able to do is half of a 55 gallon plastic drum to test it with in the garage. Wife is going to love all that smoke in the garage. HaHaHa.
If i missed anything chime in please.1988 Bass Tracker 1800FS Tournament W/ Mercury 150 BlackMax 2.0

Service manual states: 80 lb. in. Reed cage bolts/ intake bolts 105 lb. in. I use a very small amount of blue thread lock on anything that can run through the motor.
I usually do it by feel except rod bolts and head bolts.
Recommend you watch your water pressure like a hawk when you put it in the lake. After raising your motor you might have to block off you upper water intakes or run scoops.
