its a 16.. 40's won't fit under a clam shell.. they made lotsa red ones..... just as many as drab green..... they even made a "cast" black 16 that looked like a skinny 40!

Yep, it’s a 16 amp. Single voltage reg. Simple and works. If you have a problem with not being able to keep everything charged, you can always upgrade to a 40 amp at a later date
ball joints are fun. Or not... sure gotta have the right press tools or otherwise you’re just peeing in a box fan. Good luck!
if possible, jump your motor up one or two sets of holes and see how she does. Watch your water pressure. There are some half measures that work such as scoops and plugging the top on or two sets of intake holes.1990 Shadow bass boat w/ 2.4 200 Merc. Totally resto'd boat and love it!

Also can the idle speed control assembly just be removed or do i have to adjust the timing?

Finally got the compression test done, just didn't have the time or good weather anyways. Got 115 on #1 and 122 +or- a pound on the other five. Test was done cold, with all plugs removed, jumped starter to turn over engine roughly 6 revs, lubed cylinders with wd40 before testing each cylinder, put some water to the lower to lube water pump just as a precaution.

Your compression is perfect. Once you have it running well, you can also hose it down with sea foam and let it dissolve the carbon from the piston and rings and that one low cylinder might pick up. Anytime you remove boxes or make changes to the ignition components, it’s always best to check the timing. 23° seems pretty safe.

Give some strong thought to replacing both switch boxes. With that compression, that motor is probably bone stock and has never been touched. For the sake of reliability and also to find those RPMs that come and go, new switch boxes would probably take care of that. They are $300 for pair from Sierra and you want the ones that are made in Germany. Ohm your stator, too.

Friend of mine came over and we checked the timing it's currently at 19. I have removed the idle stabilizer and all the wires that are attached to it. The black and white wire that jumps between the two switch boxes is still there. I have also removed the box for the oil injection system and all the wires attached to it. I need to find the horn for the overheat and what sensor is telling it that it's overheating. I installed a water temperature gauge with the sender in the top where the water pressure comes from the water pressure is also connected there and they are both working. I'm going to pull the carbs apart check and make sure the floats aren't the old ones saturated with gas just need to find a gasket kit. Going to also pull the fuel tank flush it and replace all the fuel lines. After all this get it out on the water set the timing where it should be get the motor moved up a hole or two and hopefully we can hit 60. If it still has that up and down speed on us we'll get a couple of switch boxes. If I'm leaving anything out fired at me.

I've got a little 2.0 150 here just like it , great motors last forever , get some good reeds and some 200 carbs and rejet the little motor will gain 3 to 500 rpm up top. Every 150 I get I do this to , and people can't believe the seat of pants difference it makes, I'm sure someone has said it but add little bit of compression on top of what I said. You will b happy with her

Is rerouting the bleed lines back to the tank worth the time of helping with load up on longer no wakes or idling?

I do appreciate everyone's help, this will be my son's first Bass boat and he plans On taking it forward with him in his Bass fishing tournaments, he's
very passionate about it and has been doing really well. Winning a thousand dollars in cash and prizes his first year was good, he's only 15.
