Just found out that green and white boat that got speared by Allen Lawn was a brand new Doug Wright at It's first race

Allen finished the race with little damage, while the other has substantial damage but he kept it moving so it did not sink.

Congratulations to Performance Boat Center and Wicked powerboats "two of our board members running the Wicked boat" for a great show.

Randy and Billy were really hooked together hard and it could have easily been a tragic seen if the impact were two or three feet further back.

There are going to be manufacture rule changes coming up for SS class and additional weight will be needed to comply. The boats are so competitive and bunched up that safety has come to the forefront with race officials-the "crash, flip, or roll" in every race isn't good for anyone. There are 5 additional boats anticipated to join this class next year, the 20" 300R will raise the C.G. and things will become even more dicey as better acceleration comes into play as well.

Good job to Todd and Brent .. first time together in a fast boat ..

Joe , your other homies from Mo. put together a nice string for the weekend. I'm a big fan of consistency ..

Weight rules .. Adding side bumpers .. ???

I'll sklp the bent valves and connecting rods when they flip the 20" towers next year .. just remember you heard it here first ..

I think there is rule that states that you must stay in your lane until you make it around the first turn or lap ... whatever it is .
They are going to need to paint lane stripes .. or show those guys where the brake pedal is .. Jack hammer looks to be in lane eight ..

Lane eight , to lane one .. no matter how many you push inside the buoy .

    Was jackhammer DQ'd ...

Were any of them "apex strafing" and in alignment to go tight on the second buoy Well maybe jackhammer ..

Maybe windshield wipers would be a good rule , and a pick-up truck full of gravel in the nose to keep from getting blown over by guys crossing seven lanes in front of you.

I'm getting old and can't see as good as I usta .. but did anyone see a checkered flag in turn one .. ???

So hammer time , what happened to the seven boats inside of you .. say what you want .. ****** is a rookie . Joe , take him New Smyrna Speedway , show the clip to drivers in the bomber class and let him run with them good ole boys one night ...
I hate it that boy got put in the fence (concrete wall) like he did ..

I am all for safety however I would hate to see changes have negative impacts on stock class when it has been growing into something great and gets better every year. I would say a better solution would be to split the boats up so you don't have more than 8 on the course at a time, Have two "heat" races and then the top 4 boats from each race have one final. That avoids having to many boats bunched together and gives up even more stock class racing to watch.

Also as Chaz posted the guys should be "encouraged" to not do what Jackhammer did in the first turn

Care to share any info on the other boats anticipated to join next year? More Doug Wrights or anything new in the mix?

I think that the errors that the race team makes on the race course can be eliminated with software

for example --> excessive hard-cornering can cause the catamaran to flip

one solution to prevent flipping could be ..

    1. measure these metrics [ speed, g-force-cornering, throttle-location ]
    * the software would measure the boat's speed, and throttle location
    * as the boat goes into a turn, the g-force increases throughout the cornering around the turn-buoys
    * the software at this point then decides unless the throttle is decreased[--sped], the flipping-point of the cat will be reached in x-seconds if the throttle is not decreased
    * the software would predict that the max-g-force of the cat would be reached causing a flip, and actively decreases the throttle to prevent flipping the cat from cornering

what is the flip-speed of the boat at a corner?

The answer is ... it depends on the following
    * what is the weight of the boat at that point in time in the race
    * as the race progresses, the weight of the boat decreases due to the fuel being burned
    * as the fuel is burned, its center-of-gravity also changes
    * the embedded system would have look-up tables to know these values

The same software can be created to prevent blow-overs as well

so with this system, we won't ever need racers like Gary Ballough, Ricky Moldonado nor Shaun Torrente

a 2 inch computer cube would replace the human racers

    ...wait my idea sucks

    never mind!!!!

Noli this sounds expensive and complicated. I think Chaz has the right idea with all of the footage that is available. If you don't hold your lane for the first lap then your efforts are fruitless as "you will receive a penalty or be disqualified if your actions caused an accident".
