Really? How about the Patriot (MIM-104)? That seems to be working pretty well in Israel.

And it is *missile* and *defense*. At least the way we spell them down here in the dumb South.

"De fence" is something the hood rats jump over when they are running from the law!

Sorry about the spelling. As for missile defense, you may as well just duck and cover. Israel’s Iron Dome system is not the same as the Patriot system, just to be clear. The Iron Dome system works against crude short range missiles. ICBM, not so much. So far nothing works well on ICBM.

Do you run your SS2009 year round down there in the south?

We have sophisticated aircraft that deploy tactical lasers to shoot down ICBM's. They are up there 24/7 and cover the incoming area over the top of the globe and from the east and west. It's the only reason that the commies won't dare to fire on us. Now,a submarine close to our coast is a different matter. It has a very short time to target. For that, an air to air heat seeker intercept missile is used. We have fighter interceptors up 24/7 for that. Always on station and re-fueled in the air as needed.
Some info here. Don't be fooled, we have them....NOW. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLav0zMHut8

Why not? They can took down a drone. I would be throwing everything at them but the kitchen sink! And from what I read, they are not that different, and Israel uses Patriot also. And the Iron Dome is capable of downing cruise missiles.

You have to pick your days. It gets cold (relatively, to us anyway) here too. High humidity makes it seem colder than it is. Suppose be in the 30s tonight. Today would have been great as it was 72. I live about 60 miles from the Arkansas line. You go down south around Lake Maurepas, it is usually about 10 degrees warmer. I have driven down there to go ride in the winter. Anyway, mine is under construction. Pulled the old 235 of and replace it with a 280SS. That should be FUN!

And I was just ribbing you about the spelling!

    This is different:

IAI unveils new defensive electronic warfare systems

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) unveiled a family of new electronic warfare (EW) systems on Thursday which can combat a range of threats, including UAVs, ships, missiles and radar systems.

The Scorpius family of systems scans the entire surrounding area for targets and deploys narrowly focused beams to interfere with multiple threats across the electromagnetic spectrum. The system effectively disrupts the operation of electromagnetic systems, including radar, electronic sensors, navigation and data communications.

Scorpius has unprecedented receiver sensitivity and transmission power, allowing it to detect and address multiple threats of different kinds simultaneously from much farther distances than it was able to do in the past.

In August, the Financial Times reported that China had tested a supersonic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead in August, which orbited the Earth before accelerating toward its target, indicating advanced space capability.
