    intake manifold conversion 1999 2.5 EFI 200

    Hi all,

    just picked up an early 2.5L FF 200 EFI Merc (old school switch pack model) modding it up ready to bolt upto a 18 MILLENIUM and going to give it a birthday. no serial number unfortunately no labeled welsh plug and sticker is missing. im a outboard tech however this is my first build up on a v6 merc for high performance use. plans are
    -full fuel system service already sent injectors away to be serviced
    -will delete the muffler box
    -carbon fibre reeds maybe intake stuffers too
    -nose cone finished on gearcase filled top 4 holes

    now the question comes.. after pulling the injectors ive discovered exactly how restrictive this airbox system is by design! how the butterflys face backwards towards the reed plate, looks like there could be a much better alternative to this? looks like it lacks the induction velocity you get with the later model plenum so the question lies what do people do to improve on this? can you bolt on a 280 horn style box onto the existing injector base or even put on the later style efi plenum the opens at the top? or do they actually flow well and im wasting my train of thought.. not keen on coughing up $1800 for a svs slide system ive seen as this is only a social boat

    Looks can be deceiving, same intake as a 225 Pro Max and they dynoed 240+hp out of the box. If you want more flow Brendan Power's makes a slide intake for more flow.
