5.5L, 670HP, naturally aspirated
It's more HP than I could use on the street without losing my license, and I'm not good enough to use 670HP at the track. Maybe I could learn with practice

I like low RPM torque the 6.2 has way more, the 5.5 has more HP but on the street give me TORQUE
The 5.5 is a true race motor twin cam short stroke and micro pistons with high compression but stop light to stoplight 6.2We have invented the world; WE see

Very impressive performance. I wonder if the mercury crew had anything to do with that cyl head design. I recall reading about a dohc mercury ls1 head made for extreme rpm. It’s great to see that GM is pulling out all the stops here and building another bench mark performer. My only wish would have been to have it be 350 cid 5.7L simply for nostalgia. Other wise it’s three thumbs up from me

I can't imagine a local dealer having a qualified tech on staff to work on this engine. They must plan on having a travelling pack of service techs to cater to the C-8's.

Okay, this is an "I heard" but there was a story, I believe on The Hull Truth, about a guy who bought a C8 and had transmission trouble. Neither the dealer that sold it to him (supposedly C8 certified) nor another C8 certified dealer had the tools/equipment to repair it. I realize that this is probably true with the roll out of any exciting but totally new technology, but has to be frustrating to the buyer.

That's a joke I remember taking my 2003 C5500 back to the dealer and no one knew what to do with it, the GMC dealer did not have anyone trained to work on it, after a whole day in the shop I got a $480.00 bill telling me someone switched the PTO switch on the dash, I had nothing attached to the transmission PTO It was a electric dump, when the switch was flipped it prevents the RPMs from going over X RPMs, talk about being pissed -off

Bottom line
460 ft tq at 6,300
650 ft tq at 3600 RPMS which do you want ?
a street motor or a dyno motor
I remember the top outboard drag racer in Pro Gas years ago used a Diamond motor
he sent them the block for a nic job, they did a little tweaking on his ports trying to do him a favor...
He was forever pissed at them for ruining the best motor in that class, just because a motor makes more HP on a dyno does not translate to a winning drag motor because loosing the acceleration characteristics was/is more important for ET racing. We have invented the world; WE see

There was a porosity issue with the early ones in the transmission case. It leaked and is unrepairable ( needs replacing ) which has been exacerbated by the covid supply chain issues
