I remember meeting Kev the first time.
He stopped in a Evinrude dealer i was working at in I think, ‘1989.
He saw our V-8 we had on a Checkmate Starliner and wanted a price on a Second Effort V-8.
Had his Vegas W/two jack plates and a 2.4.
First Id ever seen 2 jack plates.
Dont remember how fast he told me it was, 86 maybe??
(When us fast guys were running 75 - 80!)
I DO remember his dad and his tow vehicle.
A ‘1968 or so, white Coupe Deville!
No back seat.
Thats where all his tools and props were!
Told me he and his dad drove all over the place, chasing other fast boats!
I thought i had just met Elvis!
Coolest guy, and dad, EVER!
Sorry for the thread hijack LargeCar.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

I bought my vector about 15 years ago......$200 with the trailer.......used it once with a 90 cid stacker as a test mule/boat.......put on a 80 hp for dog rides.... beach fun /crusing with the wife. Did a floor and partil core 5 years ago. Last 2 months I have been sanding and rattle can sprayin. The paint was SHOT.......used red anodize coating to bring back the clour and $5 dollar clear coat......brung back the sparkel for a bay bomber. I work on it more than I have used it It is a 1980 boat and I have a ?......it has what looks like repairs/buliges on the sides that don't look non factory......is it possibale the factory did an out of mold repair? the metal flake matches......The area of the bulge is6 inches wide 3 inches below the rubrail and starting from about the dash to back of the boat and you can see the woven texture in the jelcoat.........The rest looks normal.........

Oh I did do the rod slot cut. Not even sure where this motor came from. I think I have 750 bucks in the total build. Throwing a horn on it with a spacer and a 7500 rpm pro max tune in the down time and see what happens. Had the heads off today and it looks perfect
