    OMC Ficht ECM

    Good mornin All !!!!
I have a 2000 Rude 225 that I got some time ago and finally getting to do something with it. It has a bad ECM. It had a small water leak dripping on to the ECM, that the previous owner did nothing about and that eventually ruined the ECM.
Can I just buy a used replacement? Doesn't it have to be "programmed" to my motor? I found a used ecm locally for half what a rebuilt one would cost. I am an old crossflow guy, so I know very little about the injected stuff.
    THANKS everyone !!!!!!

JMO but i would save your money bc you are going to find alot more wrong with that powerhead. It's the first few years like yours that are the worst and brp dont support it no longer for tech or parts. Then you will be buying a laptop and software programs and used parts and it will keep going on and on.Ditch the pos and save yourself the headache and fustration and wasted cash.
I may be slow but im ahead of you. *hit's only ankle deep but you went in head first.

    MrG !!!!
Thank you !! Is there a more detailed explanation of this process available some where? A friend, that I have lost touch with, mentioned getting a Yamaha ignition and carbs. I have not heard of the Oceanpro option before... Is there a certain year(s) OceanPro I should be looking for?
I hate to ****can this motor. The previous owner said it was a good running engine before the ECM went out.
Any help would be appreciated !!

    Hello Everyone..
Thank you all for the information and suggestions!! I have some decisions to make. Thanks to the honesty of Eric @ Marine Computer, who didn't just want to take my money, I need to do some further diagnostic work to before I move ahead. This is a side project for me so I will probably move a bit slow.

I have one of those blocks and have checked out the ports and they don’t have exhaust relief holes and the port is large like the 250 but if you clean up the glue joints an radius the entry at the bottom of the transfers race exhaust port to inside top of casting you have easy 325 hp providing you open up the Piston Boost ports to a half inch have 225 carbs 85 mains boysen Reeds or better v 8 rods all balanced to .005 grams .I cut the heads 100ths and intake manifold for crank case stuffing mite have to dimple block for reed screws I just put grease on heads for trial fit to block and dimple with ball burr but it’s a well running engine I’ve had for 10 plus years still runs strong It’s on you tube running ( Johnson 225 mod on 21 ft offshore ) it’s turning a bravo 1 24 p
