OMC thrust washer questions
Over the years I have realized that there are dozens and dozens of different shapes, sizes, depths, shaft size and some are interchangeable with different years, HP ranges and even brands. However, I have a few questions on the later OMC/BRP stuff.
Specifically, who can tell me what year the OMC V6 switched to the larger taper washer? I have two that are the later Etec ones, one fits merc props and the other fits the large OMC props such as the SRX. The issue with these is that they are too thick for the prop I am trying to use now which is a Merc Trophy. So, my second question is does anyone know a part # for a thinner thrust washer?
If I at least have the answer to the first question, I can search out the different part numbers and experiment.
Thanks in advance.

there are 2 different styles 126870 and 128777 for 4 blade props. the former is thinner. or are you talking crossflow? i dont see why you couldnt machine down the face to fit? i know its a thrust washer and needs its shape , but the prop moves with it so dont see how it would wear out the prop shaft...

So is the problem that there are not enough threads showing? Are you using a thin locknut?
The propshaft diameter at the root of the taper changed from 1.00" to 1.06" around 1992. Phased in. But that doesn't sound like your problem.Last edited by BarryStrawn; 10-19-2021 at 10:37 PM.

Thanks for the info guys. This is for a lightning case. The washer I have is super thick and doesn't allow the base of the prop to recess in the housing like it should. I can use the thin nut, but its cutting it close with threads. I could have one machined, but would prefer to buy one if its available.
