    Baja Sport 220 engine height

I have a 1987 Baja Sport 220. It came from the factory with a fixed Gil bracket that sets the motor back 2' and has more of an angle than typical transom angle. I have a 25" Mercury 225 EFI and spent too much of my summer chasing engine height. If anyone has information as to what the propshaft height should be relative to the hull bottom, I would appreciate it.

Your probably going to want a hyd jack plate as ideal height will change with speed, load, and water conditions.

Do you have low water pickups or standard side intakes in your lower?

If you are really set back 2', then I would set the propshaft even with the pad/bottom and start there. With low water pickups and that much setback, you might end up 2" or more above the pad. Got to start somewhere though.

Where are you at now? What's it doing? What have you tried that you liked or didn't like? What were you chasing? Blowout getting on plane? Top end? Porpoising? How much vertical play do you have in your bracket/plate?

I'm way too low now because it's riding on the nose, so I'm going to set it at even, get it ready for winter and start fresh in the spring. It's getting cold quickly up here in Maine. Thank you for the feedback.
