At this point in time it’s just a crap fishing boat and I don’t want to spend that type of money on it right now. Probably will wait till next year and do it.

I did ccm reeds in my V4 140 x-flow in July, and I'm pissed it took me this long to do them. Night and day difference. Its only $70 or so, and an afternoons worth of work.

I would have a look in that carb bowl for something floating around, a reed may cause some issues but not what you were indicating... a soon as the case pressure starts to build it going to be pushed closed instantly. while causing idle mixture problems you will never see it at power.

if the reed is held open by something like a piece of old gasket it will not run on that cylinder the jets in those 85 are very small so do think anything could get past the reed reed will not close if something holding it open

The first thing I did was pull the carbs and check for junk in the bowl or a clogged jet. I could not find anything wrong. When put back on I still had a dry plug. I checked compression next and it was good. Then came checking for spark even though it shouldn’t have anything to do with a dry plug but what the hell. Next came looking for gasket leaks and water intrusion of which both were negative. On James post I looked at the reeds and could see one at the very top was open. After pulling the reed block I pulled the reeds out, cleaned everything out and may have gotten rid of something holding the petal open. All I can say now is that the dry plug is wet.
