    Havasu 2021

Mercury's debut of their 200 APX at this event is an illusion or a magic trick? Why show something off that the APBA hasn't been involved with (motor tech committee if there is one?) and clearly intended to be marketed outside of the USA? I seriously doubt that anybody in the APBA OPC category can afford this engine nor have access to buying one? Kinda reminds me of a Gary Larson Far Side cartoon where if the kid can quote the yearly rainfall total for the Amazon basin, he can have the brand new bicycle in the showroom window?!

Well..at least Mercury is trying and are the only factory building outboards for racing.
Boat racing have always struggled for sponsorship

Nice! I'd love to take that for a twirl.

Really wanted to do Havasu this year just wasn't in the cards. Is the heat tolerable this weekend?

Yes, Mercury is trying. But what are they trying to accomplish? I guess they are showing what is possible if American OPC racers would just get in line and do as they are told.

A new run of SST120 would be really trying to support boat racing.

Merc only has this platform to advertise this engine with in the US, regardless of rather it will be ran here in the next decade or not (I doubt it will)
I can't fault them for bringing their new product to the biggest event in US racing since the ending of the St. Louis GP

One or two hand built prototypes does not represent a "racing program" I don't know what the APBA or UIM is doing these days but in the past, Mercury and OMC had to build 25 units to be qualified as a bonafide "racing model".

Great cartoon analogy! Guy building the rocket = Mercury Racing. Guy with paper bag = APBA..................

"I would love to know what Mr. Bill is talking about with the Mercury man..not sure about his name but probable someone with "power".."

Yes Stuart is the GM for Mercury Racing I later found out.

Rick Hoffman a great boat builder.
He is building a new boat for the new Merc APX V6 four stroke to race next season

Keeps his wife on a short leash

If Merc would somehow seriously discount or have a lease program in the name of advertising
We have invented the world; WE see

Not only a boat builder, but Rick piloted one of Gary Garbrecht's Mach Propeller OMC V8 F1 hulls on the USA circuit. His SST 45 hulls can still be found in dominant numbers for that class.
