    The new 450 class

    I've seen the new boat from MTI run before when It was driven by the owners daughter, It Is the only boat racing this year in the new 450 stock class so It was never driven as fast as It could,
    Well Shaun Torrente jumped out of his CRM roofing sponsored Super Stock twin 300XS motor boat which placed second all day till the end, the most boring race I've seen for this class ... Into the 39 ft MTI, you can use a 34' to 40FT boat to run the class, he was IMPRESSIVE 900hp very quiet against stock Merc 1,500 HP inboards and he hung with them amazingly well, never a threat but you had 3 1,500 HP noisy boats with what seamed like a electric boat right behind.
    Having a 600HP advantage, from what I was told the outboard 450 class was suppose to run at a lighter weight but Skater said they could not build a safe boat at that weight so they rose the weight slowing down It's acceleration off the corners, as more boats enter next year It will be Interesting

    not even close to similar boats. The 450 class boats can have a 72" wide tunnel compared to 66 for the super cats, and a minimum weight of 6500 vs 9500 for the supercats.

    I agree that the boats don't compare but to have a 40 foot boat with twin outboards running in the 130 mph range and then being able to run for 1000 mile adventure like the video showed is something we "as outboard enthusiast" have never had access to. The 450 class will be great when some more boats are completed.

    Give it time, they will get a class and work all the kinks out. And then like always they will change it!

    I still don't get the build a boat, start a class mentality of racing. Soon to brag about being a one boat World Champion.

    I don't think anyone does. They got MTI a good bit of publicity and Taylor valuable driving time by doing it though. She is being coached by one of the best and they will have some things solved that other don't even know exist yet. It will be interesting to see the difference when there are four other boats packed around her-Good news is that Johnny will not let her get into a bad situation.

    I was glad to see the MTI boat with the 450 outboards make its debut in an offshore race class. Give it time it'll be a good class.

    I'm gonna put this prediction out there ..

    I think that in less than 2 years , Shaun T. will be competing in 2 classes --> [ SuperStock , 450R ]

    Klovar has won in Coaco, and Sarasota. Taylor has won in Ozarks.
    I agree more boats will be interesting.
