    Changing to stainless steel props

Am thinking about upgrading to a stainless prop for skiing. Right now for skiing I'm running a solas amita 4 12.75x 19p and its pretty good. Top end is 48-50 mph depending on load and 5600-5750. Manufacturers recomondation is 5500 WOT( i have added some tip cupping for a bit more bite as well)

I cant sacrifice any bottom end, right now it pulls my 210lbs ass up on double boot slalom no problem and that can't change, but i am hoping i can get a bit more top end with a ss prop and still maintain the pull for skiing.

Motor is a 1997 115 johnson 60 degree looper, total boat weight is around 1200lbs and fuel tank is a 60L bow mount.

Update, tried a 13x17p solas 4 blade. Came out of the hole like a animal but i lost my top end at 46mph at 6000 rpm.

Any thoughts on a 20p high 5 or trophy plus 19p ( small hub)

We ran a 115 HO Etec on a 16’ Baja and the on a 19’ J Craft. Our ski prop was a 17” 4 blade Stilletto. It would pull my 200 lb brother out, one ski, 2 feet in bindings.

It hit the rev limiter at 49.x on the Baja. I never quite got it to 50. 47 mph on the 19’ J Craft.

I would happily sell the prop as we sold the engine and upgraded to a 150.

17 is ideal for skiing. If you want more up top carry a spare 21 and a prop wrench. It doesn’t take long to swap props

Im happy with the top end and hole shot i have currently with the alluminum prop just looking to see if a stainless prop will give better grip and maybe some all around improvments.

Im putting tue 13x17p up for sale and gonna keep my eyes open for a 13x19.

Just not willing to put on a SS prop and loose all around performance, might as well just keep running the alluminum.

I bought a 115 evinrude New some years back and it came with a 19p aluminum. I switched to a 17p stainless and picked up 5mph and way better hole shot. I don’t know anyone who prefers log smacking friendly aluminum props over stainless. A good clean stainless prop is the only way to go imo. Better on all fronts except for strikes. Pitch for pitch the hole shot, cruise, mpg, and top end all improve

100 % agree i think with my set up and being at 50 mph @ 5800 rpm with the 19 alluminum and 17ss hitting 46 @ 6000 an 18 or 19 would be just right.

Really want to see that overall improvement, really want to find a powertech rxb4, or brp rouge 4 18 or 19.

You're missing the point. Adding the 4th blade is dropping your rpm's more than anything. A 4 blade will give you excellent hole shot and mid range efficiency at the expense of a few mph top end.....and generally you drop 1" of pitch when going to a 4 blade.......if you go 3 blade, stick with a 19P

All thenprops i have tested are 4 blades, im not missing the, point. The solas hr4 13x17 hit 6000, the aluminum 4 blade 12.75 x19 hit 5800.

I trifed droping pitch when switchin to the SS thats why i went with the 17 and its 500 over max.

Im ok pushing the motor to 5700 or so but proping it to 6k is not at efficent on this motor as its power curve apparently drops off.

The whole point of going to a SS 4 blade over an aluminum is to gain performance across the whole band, at least maintain tue current hole shot for skiing and gain a bit up top.
