Badddd ass!
I remember helping you when you started it.
Congrats.
Very few would stick w/it to get where you did.
Please provide on board video of it, “RUNNING VERY GOOD”.
And w/audio
Congrats sir and good luck w/it!I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Hi Revenge - I have two large radiators each with a fan plus a Davies Craig variable speed water pump. HOWEVER - these do not get me to the recommended 135F max. Currently I am running 170 to 180F without any apparent problems. Was the 135F limit to prevent the crystallisation of the salt, when on the sea, blocking the waterways?

Is this water temp or heat temp readings?

i don't think the recommended temp has anything to do with salt crystals... just the temp the engineers liked to stop the rings from sticking and/or carbon to build up but 180f is a bit warm... almost enough to set the temp. alarm off. just a guess: it might be running warm because you have the exhaust blocked off (just an assumption or does it go strait down like it was on its original midsecton?) , and the warm water cannot escape fast enough. in other words its staying in the block a tad bit too long. i also believe there was a tiny relief hole that aided water to escape the rear section, in addition to the wet exhaust adapter but someone on here knows those motors way better than me!

Yes the temp of a seawater cooled engine is top prevent the salt from coming out of solution and baking itself onto any surface.
If you see an severly overheated engine you can see it.
Thermos are 143f
Most outboards start to lose power when close to that 140 and above.

well they need to get up to temp regardless of how they are cooled. 125-152 degrees F at the top of the heads at 900 RPM . not sure about the V8 but i can imagine its the same as the v4/v6 loopers.

Keith - I have a 12 point data logger on board. Logs 8 EGT's and 4 water temperatures. 170F coming out of heads and cooled to 115F after rads. I have reversed water flow through engine, no thermostats - engine warmed to 100F before race.
