Oh ok.. just figured you might because everyone seems to crap all over the stock electronics setup and complain about CDI stuff and always looking to build a better mouse trap.. lol
Well you usually just hear tbe problems not tbe ive had the motor 30 years never had a problem..
Well i DEFINITELY like the CDI DIGITAL setup ON mine
Fixes the little stuff.. doesnt need to spin 600 rpm to get spark gets it from tbe battery.. they start cold with little more than a tap of the switch. Batteries can but pretty low and still have no problem starting..etc

Only problem I ever had w/a CDI part was trying their digital system on a looper.

Talked a customer into it as an experiment and failed miserably.
Held the the phone up to it while running so CDIs tech guy could hear it

And, H2O has forgotten more about this stuff than most will ever know and is finishing the most evil, home brewed V-6 looper on the planet.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

The stator you have in the pics will work, but the dual driver coils work better for starting and top end if you turn it up, The magnets in the gold wheels are not that strong so extra coils help out with the voltage. That's a V4 looper upper bearing and you will need it, I was going to say in the last post i had one if you needed it. The small regulators have gone up in price but you can buy the v4 10 amp water cooled for less than 100 or use the old air cooled external mount crossflow regulator that just grounds 1 of the stator legs so its charging full or 1/2 not really a regulator, i think pro marine is cheaper on those than cdi. This will work from pro.153-3408 : Rectifier 3 Wire Ring Terminal. or if you want water cooled193-4205 : Voltage Regulator, 10amp

New oem will be CDI depending on how old the stock you get is. I wont say any more about ebay LOL... Yea hopefully Stoker will chime in...

might be a dumb comment, but you were saying packs were going out... did you check for any voltage on the black/yellow kill wire ?

If your 35 amp original regulator is good they will work fine on the 10 amp system. If it ever goes bad replace with the 85/7 10 amp V4 looper version to save a few bucks. I have not had any kind of luck with CDI ignition on an OMC but seems fine on Merc. Depending on your use and target rpm you may be fine with the 6700 boxes, the limiter can be removed. I will have to look for to see if I still have the drawing on how to remove. As for stator the V8 F1 is the best but extremely had to find (blue in color), they were set up to run 4 power packs, next would be a green one from a 79 to 82 V6 crossflow as a good one will produce 300 volts to ignition.

Gary it is the V4 looper top cap from85-7 and the 85 V8. If someone has a lathe the stator mounting towers can be turned down on the stock V6 looper bearing, did that many times.

Charger if you are having the issues you mentioned with your powerpacks stay away from CDI and run oem. Make sure they have a good clean ground and a good stator with either 10 or 35 amp. Consistent pack issues are a result of other problems. I have run the dual and single pack systems over 9000 with the gold flywheel and a good stator, remember the packs can only release the energy they receive from the stator. If pack gets 200 volts from stator the coils will only receive 200 from packs. In my experience it takes 250 volts or more to run clean at 7000 and 280 plus to turn 9.

Al, I have measurements in my notes for the upper carrier tall to short.

Never done it but looks easy enough.

Thanks for responding w/some priceless info.
